You may have had a bad batch of batteries, the box was dropped, etc. Aside
from that, I just had a service call with a low battery on a Moose Z-1100.
Turns out it was a blown fuse, not a battery. Rain had leaked in through a
window to a Sentrol glassbreak, and had shorted the power terminals.
