I don't see him suggesting that anywhere. In "the real world", the
customer is always right. If your bid includes the proper plenum rated
wire and "the other guy's" doesn't, the customer is ALWAYS going to go
with the "lowest bid". He may not know about the wiring requirement and
most "assume" the company they employ is going to use the right wire.
In the rare instance where the customer tells you to use non-plenum
rated wire, getting him to sign off will help (as Matt's stated). I've
yet to come across a customer that's indifferent to code or comes right
out and tells you to violate it.

On that we agree. But you also have to read the rest of what Matt said.

There are plenty of companies that are under scrutiny of the AHJ. After
you got nailed for failure to pull a permit, I'm sure yours was "under
the microscope" for years.

I've never yet run across a customer that's asked that. Your experience
may be different though.

Exactly.

Heh.... right... So when's the last time you sold a DSC system (which
you say are "crap"). A customer clicks on the "buy now" button for a
pull station and you'll have us believe that you're going to "talk" to
them? What's to stop them from "calling you" (other than the fact that
you rarely answer the phone), "talking" to you about what you're going
to propose and then ordering the equipment to do it "their way" anyway?
Bass... you're so full of shit your eyes are brown. It also explains
why you're constantly dabbing at your ears with that Kleenex.
