Re: 2,3,4 wire smoke detectors?



2 and 4 wire detectors refer to smoke detectors used on alarm  systems, a 4
wire smoke has two power wires usually 12 or 24 volts DC and 2 circuit wires
to trigger the alarm panel. A 2 wire smoke requires only two wires for power
and the alarm circuit.
The 2 wire smoke must be listed as compatible with the alarm panel.

What you probably have are 110 volt AC smoke alarms with an interconnect
wire. The interconnect wire is used to activate the sounder on all the smoke
alarms in the event one detects smoke
