Outdoor IR Cameras in Housings?

I would like to put Outdoor IR cameras inside metal housing but was told the
IR Leds will reflect off the glass in the housing. The cameras are designed
to mount stand alone. Is there anyway to set these up without removing the
glass in the housings? They are being used in a very crime ridden area and
the highest they can be mounted under eve is around 14 feet off the ground.
