An electrical outlet isn't the ideal ground for your alarm system.
Instead, ground the cabinet directly to the ground rod or bonded
ground system. Anything less, including a cold water pipe ground, is
now considered inadequate. Note: This isn't a matter of NEC
compliance. It's to protect your hardware from lightning.
