One little white lie about the Cuban Health Care System?
I didn't see the Fox program, but if you have any doubts I suggest you try
this:
Do what Michael Moore said he did. Rent a boat if you don't have one
already and go to Havana, but without Michael and his camera crew. Dock the
boat and do all of the things just like Michael did in the movie. Walk into
the nearest pharmacy and try to load up on the drugs you use. Walk on over
to the hospital and ask for expensive tests. Then report back here - if you
can - on your experience with the Cubans and their health care system.
Let's see how your personal experience parallels Sicko's movie. Double dog
dare ya.
Other than that spend some time with Google and the health care systems of
France, Canada, and the UK. From what I can tell Canada and UK's system are
a mess and have been pretty much from inception. There seem to be fewer
reported problems with the French system so maybe there could be something
worth looking at over there. Just remember - the more FREE there is to it
the more it will cost you and everyone else. You may not have a CHOICE about
how much you have to pay. Look for a system that has built in cost
containment to hopefully keep the cost down and the care adequate. Watch out
for politicians trying to out pimp each other on health care. They are the
last people on earth that you should want to design a health care system for
this country.
