Re: OT: Physicians for a National Health Program
You will likely hear horror stories about treatment being denied or delayed
in any health care system be it private or otherwise. In the US you can
regularly read about how HMO's have denied treatment to its patients, in the
UK you will likewise hear stories about the NHS denying treatment. No system
is perfect.
The choices to deal with a lack of resources for a National or Universal
health care system are to increase the avaible funds through
additional taxes or to delay or deny certain treatments, similar options
apply to a privately funded system, increase the funds through additional
premiums, delay or deny certain treatments but thay have an additional
option available - disenfranchise those who have proven that they actually
need health care.
