Note:  Olson is not only not an alarm installer.  He doesn't even live in
the USA.  Before you even consider local and state regulations you have to
deal with USCIS.  As an alien visitor you will need to apply for a work
permit from USCIS.  The procedure is complicated but not particularly
expensive.  The application for permanent residency (green card), work
permit, etc., will cost you about US$1,000.  The procedure used to take
several years but recently it has been taking only a few months.

Australian citizens are usually welcome here as relations between our
countries are very strong (give Bush a little more time and that may
change).  Acceptance of your application is fairly routine.
