ASIS certification is extremely valuable if you are looking for a Security
VP or Director position. Many casinos, large hotel chains, financial
institutions, etc will actually require it for consideration to a high level
position. Even if it's not a requirement, it's a huge green checkmark on
your resume when applying for those types of positions. As far as alarm
installation companies (and other small sectors affected by this limited
newsgroup), however, it is relatively worthless. The CPP, for instance, goes
much further than just electronic asset protection; it's the whole package
(security budgets, guards, HR issues, interfacing with local and federal
authorities). Less than 10% of what it covers would apply to an electronic
security co (unless you're their Director of Internal Security or some
such).
