X-10 & ceiling fan?

Could I use a X-10 wall switch to control the speed of a ceiling fan?  Fan &
light are separate wall switches.  I know I could this if I bought a remote
package but that's around $40.  I already have extra Decora type
controllers.  The fan is your basic Hunter ceiling fan with a globe light.
