Digital Audio and Video Networks?

Seems to be a need for such.  Some people use Ethernet, but that was
never meant to be used for strict real time purposes.
Any ideas about what the future might hold, or what needs to be
developed?

I have been attracted to the Gibson Guitar company's idea.
