As an aside, I don't see any video scanners in xplmedianet - is that
functionality in place yet?

Under music, I have scan, jukebox etc, under video, there's nothing..

Mencoder claims to convert to mpeg on the fly, but never tried it.. Will
report back on what happens when I get a chance to try it. But as you
say, I too have my doubts!
