OK, the problem is a sockets related issue. I used to bind my socket to
INADDR_ANY, which works fine with the hub in xPLHal. However, if I
specify a ListenOnAddress in the registry, then I have to bind to that
instead, but I don't get any messages from the hub in xPLHal (it's as if
the xPLHal hub doesn't work with ListenOnAddresses)
The problems with the W800 service on Franks machine come from the fact
that in the absence of a ListenOnAddress in the registry, I just bind to
the local IP instead. The solution is not to bind to INADDR_ANY like I
used to, because that stops things working properly on PCs with multiple
network cards.
It's a catch 22, but since my new hub works fine with all the other
apps, and on all the tester's machines, I think the solution is to dump
the xPLHal hub for good and forget the problem ever existed ;-)
