xPL and VIOM setup

Hi
Have recently installed a VIOM and wired it up to a PC (this works fine
as have tested with Hyperterminal - only using pins 2,3 and GND)
Is there anyhting i need to configure on the VIOM first or will the
plugin do it all? (i'm asking because although i get the HB's, i cant
see inputs being triggered)
