Just finished a selected album and the status message had
"played=1"

Also cleared this list and started another album..when playing the first
song the status message said "played = 3"  "queued = 22
...appears to be offset by 2 ??

Just tried another album and its appears to be offset by 2 ie fist song
playing  "played = 3"

Would be good if its not too much bother .....

You need the current full update, as the mvp will just be new modules
(though they'll also be a full update available at that time too if you
prefer)

The status message carries details of the current playing situation, so
your
determinator also needs to check the stop status for played=0, which means
the playlist has finished

Alternatively I can add a status=complete as an extra message
