XPE V1.0 is available

Howdy All,

I've just posted XPE V1.0 on the www.xPL4Java.org website (follow the links
to the xPL4Java (vs xPL4Linux) stuff).

XPE stands for xPL Plugin Editor and it's a GUI interface to editing vendor
plugin files. It makes it less tedious and less error prone to create and
update the plugin XML files that drive apps like xPLHAL and future UI apps.

It currently supports all aspects of the xPL plugins *except* menuItem's.
They'll come soon. However, XPE goes out of it's way to not alter the
parts
of the plugin files it does not understand. So any menu items, comments or
other tags are preserved when editing (allowing you to have menuItems and
command and still use XPE for everything else). menuItems are expected in
a
future release.

For folks who have not created a plugin file before, it also has a
"device
discovery" mode which will query your network for xPL devices and
auto-create skeleton device entries with configuration item definitions (if
any) in place. Helps to get things off the ground.

XPE is written in Java and is a standalone app. You do not need xPL4Java
to
use it, though it certainly gets along with xPL4Java. As with everything
else at the xPL4Java.org website, XPE comes complete with source.

Also, there is a minor update to the xPL4Java framework. A bug that caused
some modules to not load has been fixed and a new set of parsers and
objects
allow xPL4Java programs to easily read and use vendor plugin files
(probably
best for UI type apps). This brings the framework to V1.3a

FYI
