You will need to install a hub on your laptop.

The reason the Manager sees the traffic is that if the Manager doesn't
detect the presence of a hub, it just binds to the base port of 3865.
Perhaps it may be worth the manager popping up a warning message if no
hub is detected.

To get a hub on your laptop, you have a couple of choices:
There is a stand-alone .NET hub which installs as a Windows service -
see http://www.xpl.myby.co.uk/info/xplhub/

Or you could install Tom's xPL Logger (I think there is a link on
http://www.xplproject.org.uk/)
Tom's logger has a built in hub, and has the added benefit of letting
you log your xPL traffic in XML format if you so wish.

Regards,

John
