You need to send two seperate commands ...sorry should have mentioned that
Text = {sys::time} doesn't work for me, do I have to add anything?
Is this line in a Determinator ....read below
I have changed my time determinator to display the time on the pcosd and it
works , but if i do a "send xpl message "it display the system
command as
text ...??? ie {SYS::TIM doesnt show the complete text
either............

The additional lines just overwrite and clear instead of writing additional
lines.
Also

Hi Neil
I sent an OSD.BASIC message with the following:
Command=clear
Row=2
Text=hello
Im sure the text should be before the row as the row is optional ...????
Try this.....it works ok with my tvosd ;-)
Command=clear
Text=hello
Row=2
Command=write
Text=another line
Row=3
>How are you displaying the time?
Putting the following in the osd message(sample)
Text = THE CURRENT TIME IS\n {SYS::TIME}

Hi Frank,
Can't seem to find Ian's VFD app...
I sent an OSD.BASIC message with the following:
Command=clear
Row=2
Text=hello
And it displayed on row 2 :)
BUT
I tried
Command=clear
Row=2
Text=hello
Row=3
Text=another line
And only the text on row 3 was displayed although the complete message was
in the monitor.
BTW I'm using PETEC PCOSD for the display.
How are you displaying the time?

Hi Neil
First Question:
Can anyone recommend a suitable VFD to use, I was thinking about a Noritake
Starter Kit. http://tinyurl.com/5wfwv.
They all look nice ;-).......Im assuming they use the same serial format as
the ones Ian wrote hia app for so any of them should be ok if this is the
case.......
Second Question:
>Can the OSD be split, i.e. top half has one set of data, bottom half
>has
another sort of like this
I *think* you would have to update the whole screen each time if using the
vfdosd currently...I just tried sending a message to row 2 and it came up
on
row 1 ;-(.........
Third Question:
Is there a real time clock app?
Not sure........I display the time every ten minutes or use my remote to
trigger a display of the time.........

Now I've got xPL pretty much doing everything I think I can get it to do
with the devices I have, I want to get a display up and running.
I have a few mss100's and so intend making a networked serial display.
Which
I know a few of have already done.
First Question:

This one: KGU180X32D-K612A4-CA 180x32 $111 Eu96 £67
Would that work? Or is there a better one to go for?
Second Question:
Can the OSD be split, i.e. top half has one set of data, bottom half has
another sort of like this
------------------------------------------------------
Incoming Call - 01234567890
---------------------------------------------------
21:34:33 -2°C
------------------------------------------------------
Or
------------------------------------------------------
Playing - Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb
---------------------------------------------------
21:34:33 -2°C
------------------------------------------------------
Third Question:
Is there a real time clock app?
Thanks
Neil
