Tony, I'll shoot you a zipped copy of the mp3 and see if you see
anything.

I suspect the Samba config on the linux media server is to blame
(it's an HP product from a few years ago that was exceptionally
cool - called a DE100c. It is an audio product that displays via
your TV set, and runs embedded linux. Unfortunatley, it was ahead of
its time, and HP killed the product in favor of the Microsoft XP
based media servers).
