Hi all,
Have just published xplrionet v3.9.04 at www.xplhal.com
New in this version is RioCast Servers
To enable riocast support add a line <riocast enabled="Y"
/> to
xplrionet.xml
To create a server add the following to streams.xml
<server port="8000" password="password"
buffer="8" />
port= is the start port for the server to use (and is the one to attach to
for a stream). It also uses the next port (in this example this would be
8001)
password= is the password that the dsp source (see below) must provide.
Only
1 source per server, so if you want multiple sources you must set up
multiple servers on different ports
buffer= is the buffer size in kb to use for each attaching client. valid
range is 8 to 128. you may try 0 for no buffer if you like.
You'll also need to create a standard streams entry for each server in
streams.xml
e.g. <stream title="My RioCast" url="http://localhost:8000" />
and then run a shoutcast scan to import the new stream
You have to provide a source and riocast is only tested with winamp at the
moment (though i don't know of any other app). Only winamp 2.x supports
dsp.
You'll also need a dsp plug-in for winamp. The ones tested are the official
shoutcast dsp and oddcast. You have to configure the dsp with the ip
address
and port number of the riocast server to attach to. You should also set the
shoutcast name.
The shoutcast dsp supports streaming of both winamp and the soundcard.
Oddcasy only supports streaming of winamp.
Neither, i've discovered, seem able to stream a CD :-(
There is another dsp (not tested with riocast) called JetCast that seems to
be able to stream a cd, but it won't auto connect at startup - so of no use
for a screenless pc acting as a cd player.
Am looking into the options.
xplrionet (mvp/exstreamer/rio/slimp3) seem to work fine with riocast, as
does winamp. windows media player doesn't (and not sure i can be bothered
to
work out why at the moment!).
Regards
Tony
