xPLRioNet and RioCast Server

Hi all,

Just an update on progress so far, and please feel free to comment.

Have implemented a shoutcast server in xlrionet, hence forth to be known as
a riocast...

I discovered that shoutcast server only allows one source to connect to it,
whereas i wanted riocast to accept multiple connections. However, due to
the
way that shoutcast receives details of the 'current song title' riocast
will
have to follow the same route of one server to once source (though multiple
clients are ok).

Not an issue, since xplrionet can just launch multiple servers if required.
Just means having to define the servers, rather than having them
dynamically
added when a dsp source attaches. Could of got around it by restricting it
to 1 source per pc, but didn't want to do that.

Still got some work to do on the client side, a bit of buffering and
working
out how to detect when a connection has been dropped (if anyone has any
ideas on this last bit in vb.net please let me know).

But i've just had winamp dsp'ing a track (could just as easily have been
from the soundcard) to a riocast server instance - and an mvp playing it
via
shoutcast :-)

Windows media player wasn't happy, but when is it! Haven't tried winamp as
a
client yet, run out of pc's, but i suspect it'll be fine. Also, still got
to
inject the meta data (the current song title) into the stream

Nearly there i think...

Regards
Tony
