Re: xPL & video capturing

Thanks for the suggestions. The spike-filled pits are in place, and I
am almost there with the video capturing. There are indeed many
options to grab pictures from a camera, but I insist on video...

The easiest path to a solution looks this:
- Windows Media SDK 9.0
- it comes with a vb-script in the examples "wmcmd.vbs" that
takes a
bunch of parameters and allows capturing video for a given number of
seconds.
- in xPLHAL when the PIR triggers the video: launch a bat that takes a
video output filename as input (output must be numbered to prevent
overwriting everytime) and runs wmcmd.vbs. The bat copies the file to
a temp directory.
- the temp directory gets FTP'ed to a webserver.

The only caveat is the Hauppauge WinTV card: after booting it switches
back to a random channel on the tuner, instead of the composite input.
I have to manually start WinTV to switch to the correct input and
then quit that application. I have not found out yet how this can be
done programatically. Maybe I should just get myself a decent capture
card.

Tom
