xPLMediaNet - Scanner Speed

Hi all,

Been running some speed tests on the music scanner, using 2 fairly fast
pc'=
s
and a 100mb network, mainly mp3 tracks reading id3 tags:

Music stored locally on xplmedianet pc:

Scanning rate for new tracks - around 400 tracks per minute

Rescanning rate (with no new tracks found) - around 3000 tracks per minute

Music stored remotely on a windows network share:

Scanning rate for new tracks - around 80 tracks per minute

Rescanning rate (with no new tracks found) - around 600 tracks per minute
(based on being 5 times slower than local) but suspect it should be a lot
faster as it's not reading files over the network

Basically if using a network share expect it to be 5 times slower scanning
new tracks than a local drive, so if you have a lot of tracks then it's an
overnight+ job!

All these figures will depend on the equipment of course.

I'd be interested if the testers could possibly let us know if their
figure=
s
are in this range (or worst/better) please

Many thanks
Tony
