RS485 - XPL on the wire

I'm interested in looking at 'dumber' devices (such as light
switches, temp sensors, etc) on RS485 with XPL. Unless I've missed
something the current specs don't relate to RS232/485 transport.

My suggestion would be to use the normal STX<XPL message>ETX CRC-16
ETX as per Xap and similar to bi-sync, although given the lightweight
aims of XPL I'd also be happy with STX<XPL message>ETX LRC-8

Any comments?

Lehane
