Rios for whole house IR reception

I was thinking how useful it would be if the Rio/Rioplay_xpl could be
used to receive any(or lots of)IR signals recieved by the Rio and put
in an XPL message.
If you have say 6 rio's in 6 rooms, you automatically have zoning
since the XPL_origin would be say, living room rio. etc.

The slimp3 has something on these lines.

Is this feasable?
