Thanks for getting back to me again.
The only things explicitly loaded on the tivo prior to this are TivoWeb and
endpad.tcl . The loopback adaptor is installed (can ping 127.0.0.1 ok) -
other than that I do not know where to check next.

Am looking at the linux hub in more detail, but thinking about it the above
message suggests the port was already in use.
No chance there was already a hub running at all?
When I revisit the hub shortly (to look at inaddr_any/inaddr_broadcast
issue), I'll try and add a bit more to the error messages so we can tell
exactly where it's failing.
