I can't speak for the others... but, I'm working on "wrapping"
the
Sphinx 4 voice recognition engine
(http://cmusphinx.sourceforge.net/sphinx4/).
 Sphinx4 (S4) is an all
java app; so, the result can be run on any platform. My initial
motivation was supplying VR for misterhouse; but, it is now evolving to
support (hopefully) any command-like schema that can be broadcast via
xPL (and xAP). S4 is open source--which has helped as I've already
contributed to that program to make mods for this effort (specifically,
multiple dictionaries; "exstreamer" doesn't seem to be a very
common
word ;) ). It will permit multiple forms of utterances to be mapped to
any schema message format desired. It currently is configured to
support "out-of-grammar" utterance detection to minimize false
positives
(guesses at the wrong matched grammar). Hierarchical grammar sets will
eventually be supported.

As an aside, I've incorporated something called Java Service Wrapper
into the "wrappings" which makes installing on a windows platform
to run
as a service a "one-click" action.

I hope to be using this live in my house by Christmas; so, sharing with
everyone else by that time frame is likely.

Gregg
