xPLRioNet and mp3 transcoding

i'm having problems getting the mp3 transcoding feature to work. i
installed the latest version 3.8j and have extracted the helper file
to my rionet directory. i added the mp3 transcoding tag to
transcode.xml and restarted the service.
when i start playing a song, the song shows up on the display, but the
time shows 0:00 and never moves. if i remove the mp3 transcoding tag
from transcode.xml, restart the server, it works as usual. any
suggestions?
