It's really personal preference between VB6/C++, or VB.NET/C#.
(though, if you were into C++, then Mal's C++ library is the way to go)

In which case, I'd suggest the ActiveX/VB6 environment - you'll find it
much closer to VBA than .NET.

Of course, you could just try them both, and see which one you prefer :-)

(It's easier to write a service in .NET than it is in VB6)
