Hi Andy,

I think there are several issues here.

Firstly volume level/mute should only work with either lineout (when
lineout=y) or built-in amp (when lineout=n). There's no control of lineout
with lineout=n and no control of amp with lineout=y. At least there
shouldn't be as control is mutually exclusive.

I think that rather than being a global option lineout should probably be
changed to a unit specific option?

So, to maintain compatibility, lineout="y" in xplrionet.xml would
mean
always use lineout, whereas lineout=n would mean use built-in amp control
unless a new config item per rio called lineout=y?

Do you think this would solve the issues?
