Hi tony,

I'm afraid I'm a bit of a layman where the coding of these things are
concerned but I will do my best to shed more light on the display
server.

I believe the d/s is a web page hosted on the unit itself, I would
guess that due to the fact that you had to modify the receiver.arf
file and point your browser at the ip address of the unit.

The original hack was produced by Frank Van Gestel and can be found
here http://empeg.dyndns.org/receiver/dskernel/

The hack did indeed give you realtime updates and in fact basically a
Java app which gave you an exact replica of the units display. On the
webpage this display was embedded in a picture of a Rio unit with the
buttons linked to emulate the front panel controls. There was also a
small self-contained application which gave you the display and the
basic controls. I used this app in conjunctioin with a magnification
app to give me the super sized display I wanted.

If it helps you I could send you a copy of the modified receiver.arf
file I was using and also the little utility that was used to view the
display and control the unit. Just tell me where to send it.

Sorry I can't give you any more technical detail but hey - we can't
all be whizzkids!

Paul
