osd command request

Hi All
Was wondering if it was possible to have a command called
"Alert"...or something similiar....What i would like to do is if
the pic/osd
receives an alert message it can send the message in red and flash it
on/off....also with the pic/vfd interface i have spare i/o and if i receive
an alert message i can also pulse a sonalert to draw attention.......
