It should be just a case of recording it on a list somewhere. TBH I'm
not even sure who maintains this nowadays. If it's an open job with no
current owner, I'm happy to maintain this list but I don't have the
current master list. It's really just to make sure that there aren't
any clashes as far I'm aware.

So publishing your chosen Vendor ID to this list should be more than
sufficient.
