BSC - new specification

Dear all,

(I hope you don't receive two similar messages - Yahoo is either
taking 12 hours + to deliver my messages, or it's eating them - so I'm
typing this one directly into the web interface.)


There is an updated version of the BSC (Basic Status and Control)
specification document in the files area of Yahoo! -

- the document is
available in both DOC and PDF formats.

This is the version of xAP that Homevision, Homeseer, BarioNet and
C-Bus worked to for the weekend, plus one alteration.

There was some confusion about the word "status". It appears at
one
level in xapstatus.info and xapstatus.event, and at another level in
xapcmd.status. I have, after one-to-one discussion with several of
you, changed xapcmd.status to now be xapcmd.query. (The word query was
chosen for consistency with the Audio schema).

Your comments are welcome, but the Schema proved very solid at the
weekend, and the change is for human readability as well as ease of
machine parsing. (It makes a lexical scan for the literal
"schema"
deterministic).
