But this one above is the mechanism I employ these days.

The latter does mean you can use entirely different implementations
simply by changing the target address, maintaining the consistency of
the subaddress.

The latter also means you could operate multiple SlimServers (for
whatever reason) and thus support non-unique Slim names across the
entire xAP network.

The former also has that slight confusion where "server" is the
SlimServer itself, and "lounge", on the same addressing level, is
a
Slim device.

There have been other rumblings on this topic that you have just
reminded me of.
