RE: Renaming of instances and SubInstances?

In my case all the SubInstance names are user definable and must be unique
so you could not have a 'Front light' input and 'Front light' output.
Anyway, let's say the next board I built had an analogue input(s) as well
as
variable outputs. Any status message would have to define whether the port
was input or output and whether the value was from on or off e.g. 25% on or
25% off. If the input was in the range 0 to 255 would that need stating as
well? Also, is 0 on or off? If there was a plugin then fine as all this
would have been documented and the plugin writer understood it and
programmed round it. From the point of view of a 'listening' device all
this
would need stating if it was to make head nor tail of it.

Sticking the Inputs in one body and the outputs in another in the same
message gets round some of the questions but not all.

More questions than answers I'm afraid.

Ian
