opn-mbs - Modbus RTU master with xAP BSC

opn-mbs is a programmable Modbus RTU (RS485) master controller with Web and
xAP BSC interface. It's been primarily designed to sink data from
Modbus-enabled power meters but it's in fact capable to talk with almost
any Modbus RTU slave in the market, including IO's, slave PLC's and pump
controllers.

Modbus, unlike other more modern protocols, only defines basic mechanisms
to transport binary and analog data. This makes Modbus capable to be
implemented in small code footprints, hence the success of this old (70's)
protocol. Besides, given the small resources needed to run Modbus in
embedded devices, Modbus slaves are usually cheaper than other bus-based
products.

The current firmware version of opn-mbs only supports xAP BSC but I'm going
to work on a TSC implementation soon. We're hopping that this embedded
implementation of TSC will spur other xAP developers to add support for
this new schema, more suitable for transporting analog data than the
current BSC schema.
