Re: xAP Ping

Hi James,

My vote would be for just using the usual Ping3.Info and Ping3.Event
messag=
es and removing the display.message ones (or being able to turn them off)?

Being able to choose "fail only" or "fail / success" or
"fail only / return=
" notifications would be a benefit too.

I think that BSC endpoints for every device would add too much traffic
(cer=
tainly for me anyway!)

Cheers,

Martyn

Hi,

yes it's a displaymessage and an email if that is setup. I can certainly =
add other schemas but I'm not sure if BSC would be the best. If I did use
b=
sc then it would mean every xAP device being doubled up as a bsc endpoint.
=
Maybe thats ok but it would mean more traffic for no big benefit. I was
thi=
nking about the xap.log messages ( they are a bit like syslog/windows
event=
s), Floorplan already supports them so would log them and it would be easy
=
to script/trigger things from them. I presume you want to action certain
th=
ings if certain apps/devices fail?
Either way is do-able but BSC support is a much bigger job than the log m=
essages!

As far as xAP monitoring goes, is it just display messages when an apps=

Hi,
Figured the issue, I think. Can you re-dowload the zip. The exe is =
the same but i've included the latest intranet ocx that it was built
agains=
t. the ocx should replace your one in system32. run :
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\xap_intranet.ocx
to register it. Should be good to go once done.

Hi James

I tried the new Ping3.exe, but can't seem to get it to even start=
up - doesn't even appear as a running process. I'm testing just by
running=
it rather than as a service. I've noticed also that it appears to be near=
ly double the size of the previous version. The website I'm trying is a
pr=
ivate one on the LAN.

Cheers
Graham

Max,
Got the update running, you can grab the exe here: ( there was =
a reference issue and it was calling the wrong dll and crashing, simple to
=
fix once found!)
http://www.mi4.biz/files/xapping3/ping3_beta_5.zip
You'll need to go to the main settings page and turn on "monitor =
xap heartbeats"
Hopefully it should work fine.

Graham,
Could you give the above update a try too, it may well help.
when using http if you click on the red/green/grey globe next to =
the device name you will go to a page that should list and show the data
re=
turn by the check. It may be an authentication issue. Ping looks for a
ht=

403.1=

=
i can try it here
