RE: POP3 connector (Floorplan 1.5 Device not updating)

Thanks for the information. I've just installed the POP3 connector and can
confirm that it's not you doing anything wrong, the connector does indeed
send the wrong line end characters. The connector was originally written by
Stuart Booth for the first version of the .Net Framework. Stuart is no
longer working on this but I do have the source code for this app. I'll
take
a look and see what I can find out. It's odd because this is not a
behaviour
that the other v1 framework app exhibit (if my memory serves me correctly).
The fix may either be a simple configuration change or something deeper. If
it's the latter then I'll probably take the opportunity to re-work this app
against the latest xAP Framework - that may take a little more time.

I'm interested to know how may people are using this app and if there are
any outstanding feature requests.

Also, can I dispel one urban myth: Viewer does not dissemble/re-assemble
messages on receive/re-transmit. It keeps all messages in the exact byte
binary format that it was received at the socket. Same is true for hub.
There was a version of viewer that did this but Stuart retired that years
ago (it was easy to spot because it also re-ordered the parameter lines in
each block).

Thanks for the response James,

I tried running the new hub and the problem persisted. I also played with
your idea regarding the line endings on my interface a bit but I still
could
not get it to work.

Subject: Re: [xap_automation] Floorplan 1.5 Device not updating

Hi,

The only times i've seen this kind of thing happening is when the
application is sending xAP messages with incorrect line endings. They
should
be chr(10) but some apps end with CRLF. When Viewer picks up the message
the message is getting broken apart then rebuilt correctly, this is why
re-sent message work. Now in theory the intranet ocx, which is the xAP
receiver used in Floorplan, converts odd line endings but it's not abe to
correct them in this case. Two things to try. 1, Make sure you are using
one of the latest hubs from http://www.edjo.
<http://www.edjo.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/edward/xAP/>
 pwp.blueyonder.
co.uk/edward/ xAP/ on the PC running Floorplan 2, In viewer there is an
option to view the raw message in hex, this should show up what is
happening . If you could post the hex here it would help to see what is
happening.

Hi - I am relatively new to this so forgive me if this is a stupid
question.

I am trying to use Floorplan to display status information about my
house and control my household X10 devices. I have a number of BSC
devices on Floorplan for the X10 Devices and they are all working
properly. I also have a number of Raw devices displaying the current
weather from xAP Weather that work properly. I have 2 raw devices that
do not update properly on Floorplan when the a new message is sent. If
I go to xAP Message Viewer, select the message in question and press
the send message button a new message will be sent and Floorplan will
update properly. One of these is trying to get the total number of
emails from the xAP POP3 service. The other is via a homemade serial
interface to an Ocelot controller. I could understand the serial
message not working because I may have a poorly formed message or
something but the email service is an established service.

Does anyone know what could be causing this?

<p class=MsoNormal>The only times i've seen this kind of thing
happening is
when the application is sending xAP messages with incorrect line endings.
They
should be chr(10) &nbsp;but some apps end with CRLF. &nbsp;When
Viewer picks up
the message the message is getting broken apart then rebuilt correctly,
this is
why re-sent message work. &nbsp;Now in theory the intranet ocx, which
is the
xAP receiver used in Floorplan, converts odd line endings but it's not abe
to
correct them in this case. &nbsp;Two things to try. 1, Make sure you
are using
one of the latest hubs from&nbsp;<a
href="http://www.edjo.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/edward/xAP/";
target="_blank">http://www.edjo.
pwp.blueyonder. co.uk/edward/ xAP/</a> on the PC running Floorplan 2,
In viewer
there is an option to view the raw message in hex, &nbsp;this should
show up
what is happening . &nbsp;If you could post the hex here it would help
to see
what is happening.<o:p></o:p></p>

font-family:"Georgia","serif";color:black'>Hi - I am
relatively new to this so
forgive me if this is a stupid<span

question.<br>
<br>
I am trying to use Floorplan to display status information about my<span
class=apple-converted-space>&nbsp;</span><br>
house and control my household X10 devices. I have a number of BSC<span
class=apple-converted-space>&nbsp;</span><br>
devices on Floorplan for the X10 Devices and they are all working<span
class=apple-converted-space>&nbsp;</span><br>
properly. I also have a number of Raw devices displaying the
current<span
class=apple-converted-space>&nbsp;</span><br>
weather from xAP Weather that work properly. I have 2 raw devices
that<span
class=apple-converted-space>&nbsp;</span><br>
do not update properly on Floorplan when the a new message is sent.
If<span
class=apple-converted-space>&nbsp;</span><br>
I go to xAP Message Viewer, select the message in question and
press<span
class=apple-converted-space>&nbsp;</span><br>
the send message button a new message will be sent and Floorplan
will<span
class=apple-converted-space>&nbsp;</span><br>
update properly. One of these is trying to get the total number of<span
class=apple-converted-space>&nbsp;</span><br>
emails from the xAP POP3 service. The other is via a homemade
serial<span
class=apple-converted-space>&nbsp;</span><br>
interface to an Ocelot controller. I could understand the serial<span
class=apple-converted-space>&nbsp;</span><br>
message not working because I may have a poorly formed message or<span
class=apple-converted-space>&nbsp;</span><br>
something but the email service is an established service.<span
class=apple-converted-space>&nbsp;</span><br>
<br>
Does anyone know what could be causing
this?<o:p></o:p></span></p>
