Re: Blue 0.2 - was Re: Blue 0.1

They are normal BSC messages, using the State OnOff to signify if the
device is around or not:
xap-header
{
v=12
hop=1
uid=FF441105
Class=xAPBSC.Info
Source=mi4.blue.FAITH:Shanus
}
input.state
{
State=Off
Text=<Without name>
DisplayText=Last Seen 15/06/2008 21:53:55
}

Text shows what the name of the device as it is now being reported.
Display text lets you know when the device was last seen.
the Source sub name is the name of the device as it was first detected.
In the above example you can see that the device when it was last seen
didn't send a name.
Only thing of note is that in Blue 0.1 , bsc.query is broken. It will
be fixed in 0.2 which is out soon. The mentions of 0.2 previously were
of a test release. ( New version will be called 0.3 to avoid confusion)
The source sub name as well as the UID are locked to a device and won't
change. Unless you muck around with the config file that is. They are
based on the bluetooth mac address which is unique per device
Blue can also send any xAP message when a device comes and goes. It has
event files just like Switchboard does, so you can make it send specific
messages if you like.

> > > > I've been noticing this too. No idea
why having/not
having a
> tray
> > > icon
> > > > causes the bluetooth to timeout but it
does. Still
hunting for a
> > > fix.
> > > >
> > > > The other items you mentioned are
exactly how it
should happen.
> The
> > > > display message, and the tray balloon,
only ever
occur once per
> > > device.
> > > > Did you want a way to disable
it?
> > > >
> > > > One thing I didn't mention is that in
the config
file you can
> > > choose the
> > > > radio number. It defaults to 0 which is
the first
found
> bluetooth
> > > > dongle, but you can pick any dongle.
When Blue
starts up it
> lists
> > > all
> > > > found dongles and shows which is which.
So by
making copies of
> > > Blue and
> > > > the config file you can run multiple of
Blue on a
single PC each
> > > linked
> > > > to a different device. I though this
may be useful
if you wanted
> > > one
> > > > dongle at each end of the
house.
> > > > > Hi James,
> > > > >
> > > > > What an excellent app! Thanks
very much
> > > > >
> > > > > I can report some small bugs,
though
> > > > >
> > > > > Trying it out on my own pc,
running
interactively so I can
> see the
> > > > > log window. Running the
original service hub,
and intranet
> > > launcher
> > > > > 1.8.
> > > > >
> > > > > I have 2 Bluetooth phones
running and one Ipaq
RX3715 running
> at
> > > the
> > > > > moment.
> > > > >
> > > > > I have used 2 Bluetooth USB
dongles, a Tevion
v1 and a
> generivc
> > > V2,
> > > > > both with the MS enumerator,
with equal success
> > > > >
> > > > > Shortly after start up Blue
joins the
launcher, It seems to
> do one
> > > > > search, finds the phones ok
and sends out a
BCS event. Then
> > > stops, no
> > > > > log messages. Does not find
the Ipaq. The next
BSC info says
> the
> > > > > phones have gone away. Blue
disappears from
the Launcer menu.
> Will
> > > > > reaappear if I stop launcher,
but will not
exit, except by
> Task
> > > > > manager
> > > > >
> > > > > Starting Blue without Launcher
it finds all 3
devices,
> reports BSC
> > > > > events, then does repeated
searches at 30
second intervals,
> still
> > > > > finds all devices and reports
with BSC infos.
This seems to be
> > > good
> > > > > and I assume is the
design
> > > > >
> > > > > It does not seem necessary for
the devices to
be partntered
> with
> > > the
> > > > > PC for all this to work, and
again I assume
this is by design
> > > > >
> > > > > Just poered up my BT GPS
receiver and it found
it straight
> away
> > > > > New devices are reported with
message.display
regardless of
> any
> > > config
> > > > >
> > > > > Hope this helps
