Subnet/broadcast address and XP Firewall

  • Subject: Subnet/broadcast address and XP Firewall

Hi all,

I have to set the windows XP firewall to allow UDP 3639 (xAP) on "Any
computer" as opposed to "My network (subnet) only".

Is this because the hub/apps etc are using 255.255.255.255 rather than
calculated the broadcast address from the subnet mask and ip address e.g.
192.168.0.255?

Thanks,
Jon
