RE: xAP, Slimserver and the QNAP

I haven't tried it so can't say for sure. But I do know that the plugin is
pure Perl so there's no processor specific code in it and it uses only
standard platform features, nothing that SlimServer itself doesn't use. So
it's promising as long as they give the end user the ability to add plugins
to the configuration.

One aspect to be cautious about, I've a friend who has loaded SlimServer
(but not the xAP plugin) onto a NAS device (not sure what off hand, but he
had to hack it so not one sold as 'Slim pre-loaded') - it works fine with
the players but the web interface is unusably slow.

Subject: [xap_automation] xAP, Slimserver and the QNAP

In an effort to lighten the burden on my rather puny HA server, I've been
investigating the option of offloading Slimserver onto a NAS device. This
lead me to https://www. <https://www.ripcaster.co.uk/node/133>
ripcaster.co.uk/node/133 . Anyone have any experience with this? Anyone
running the Slimserver plugin on it?

Max
