Hi again,

Still not having any luck talking to the xap jabber program.

It must be my settings.txt file, as I installed xap jabber on another
machine at work (with xap viewer, xap hub and xap news), using the
same settings as at home. I used the same account for it as I used at
home (the home xap jabber wasn't running). When running, I was able to
see it on my client software (PSI) after adding it to my list of
users. It sent me 2 messages as per normal. When I tried to send #help
or #settings, I got no reply. Xap viewer shows the other accounts as
being present, but no messages when I try to talk to xap jabber.

In case there was something wrong with the jabber server I was using,
I also created a new account on the 'jabber.org.uk' server. I'm able
to see this on the xab jabber window, and it appends the settings.txt
file. I can also communicate both ways with this account and my
original account created on the 'amessage.eu' server. Again, when
signing on to the jabber.org.uk server on another pc i'm unable to
talk to the 'bot.

my settings.txt file has the following:

server= amessage.eu
user= (username I use for xap jabber)
password= (password I use for xap jabber)
allowed= iantickle@...

As far as I can see these settings should be ok.

Oh - and I also uninstalled and re-installed the xap jabber program
on my home pc just to much sure it was installed correctly !

This is really puzzling me - any help most welcome!!

Ian
