I've noticed this occasionally when a  podcast doesn';t download right.
It looks like you are seeing it far more frequently  that i do, could
you drop me a copy offlist of your news settings file? Hopfully it
should make it easier to hunt down why it happens.
The log entries are mainly File not founds as in a  404 message. If you
get these it is usually a graphic is missing somewhere. In news it could
be one of the feed logos used in the green/blue bars on the homepage?
Also when most web browsers visit a site after they get the index page
they try and get the favicon.ico as this isn't included in the intranet
apps ( easy enough  to add though ) it would also cause a 404.
