Just a heads up that Girder 4 has been released by Promixis - I
believe
it's highly rated and used by many people on this list to get things
co-operating. As a bonus in Girder 4 there is a xAP plugin available
(written by Promixis) that is very flexible in operation exposing and
integrating xAP and LUA which is the Girder scripting language. BSC
(Basic Status and Control) is supported and indeed any schema can be
added using small LUA template scripts. I personally haven't used
Girder much before so just getting to grips with the concept. It has
quite a steep learning curve but it's fairly low level approach to
interacting with all things Windows (at the OS level) seems very
powerful. Many applications support Girder as their automation interface
and it has some nice GUI 'floating window' displays. V4 seems to be
positioned very much a new product and is quite a hefty upgrade price
from v3 (although with V4 you get an additional v3 licence too). Not
played enough yet to fully get to grips with all it can do yet so will
report back later.
