Re: Has anyone ever managed to get xAPmcs1wire working?

I don't believe that Michael McSharry (the mcs 1-wire author) is a
member of this list. Unfortunately he doesn't fully implement the xAP
spec and has used a variant for his own HA setup which he has been able
to implement because his senders and listeners are of his own coding.
However it appears he doesn't want to make the effort to change his apps
to be fully xAP compliant or to participate here. I have had a few
conversations with him and his problem is that he now has many
applications interworking that would each require extensive changes,
particularly in addressing and embedded html, however some improvements
for conformity with xAP he has managed to adopt. He has also
implemented some extra steps (schema) to assist in configuration and
addressing of devices - as 1 wire addresses are very long and outside
the scope of the current xAP UID although the new (pre announced) UID
will be a great fit. mcs has an adaption of the BSC schema in use to
allow enumeration of valid states He also has a xAP hub, a xAP OCX
and a xAP plugin for HomeSeer that do work well with his applications (I
believe).

Now all this is from a bit back and I haven't recently tried the apps so
maybe they work better now. There should be no interaction problems
between his apps and xAP although they might not communicate well - what
sort of problems are you seeing ? I wasn't aware there were issues of
not working , that sounds like a solvable issue - what's your setup ? I
might be able to mimic it here. All in all I suppose he shouldn't really
be presenting his applications as "xAP compliant" and if it's
starting
to cause problems we need to address that. AFAIK things were working OK
so this is news to me...

On a positive note he does have his own mcs forum on the HomeSeer system
where he supports these products - based obviously around the HS plugin
, have you tried asking some questions there ?
