I 'm thinking that the best way forward is to allow the selection of a
odbc=
dsn then for ping to do a simple sql command against it, show tables or so=
mething like that and then base a success failure on the data returned.

You can, sort of, do this already.  If you select a TCP scan and enter

the connection port of the db server. Basically this connects to a TCP

server and listens for the connection banner from the server, then

disconnects. Most servers work like this. I have used this to check,

exchange smtp/pop/imap servers, ssh daemons, mysql, apache, iis. Seems

to work fine

Could you give this a try and see how you get on. You will need to go to
th=
e settings page and configure the from address and email title. The email

itle can include %1,%2,%3 which allow the insertion of specific info,
detai=
ls are on the settings page. Now every scan is also logged to a db, the
las=
t 10 scans are included in the email sent out and also available when you
l=
ook at a device in the web interface.

Included is an updated ocx. Put this in the system32 dir and run regsrv32

gainst it.



Let me know how you get on. Assuming all is fine I will get  a proper

ller done for it.
