Hi James,

How possible would it be to have a database connection monitor?

e.g. make a connection to and Oracle and / or SQL db and report on the
success of that?

it looks good... however when I try and view the device i.e.  http://IPADDRESS:55000/viewdevice.xsp?3
i get a runtime error '523' The data binding DLL, 'VB5DB.DLL', could not be
loaded.

Could you give this a try and see how you get on. You will need to go to
the settings page and configure the from address and email title. The email
title can include %1,%2,%3 which allow the insertion of specific info,
details are on the settings page. Now every scan is also logged to a db,
the last 10 scans are included in the email sent out and also available
when you look at a device in the web interface.
Included is an updated ocx. Put this in the system32 dir and run regsrv32
against it.

Let me know how you get on. Assuming all is fine I will get  a proper
installer done for it.

Hi James...

Apart from the "From" address, how about the subject? So Alert:
could be Warning or something?

Also a history web page would be good...giving times of previous events...
eg such and such monitor status was fail  at hh:mmm dd/mm/yyyy

format wise and example..

hh:mm dd/mm/yyyy             monitor                           status

I'll have more of a think.. it's one of those apps that you think of more
things the more you use it...

not currently but very easy to add. Can you think of any other tweaks to
the email or to ping that are needed and i'll wrap them up in an update.
