Hi,

Well there will be a little spike of cpu usage on a ping but it's tiny,
maybe 1% on a 733mhz pc. Try turning logging on and off for the devices
as it maybe not the ping but the writing to the database that is causing
the issue, has it grown large or maybe corrupt?
Also is this Ping3 beta or Ping2 and are these scans pings or other
scans. If they are things like hard disk space and you are calling them
every 5 seconds you are going to start overloading things! I'm a bit
curious as to what needs checking every 5 seconds?? It's like running a
dos attack on yourself!
