ish. I don't have a xAP enabled doorbell, but I do have a camera above
the door which is connected to ZoneMinder. Using motion detection i get
xAP alerts whenever anyone approaches the door. The advantage is I know
someone is  approaching before they get to the door but has the
disadvantage of alerts when the postman comes. ( which may not be a
disadvantage)

Another possibility is connecting the doorbell to a xAP Netiom. Then you
could use Floorplan or the bsc mapper to execute suitable alerts.

'fraid i can't help you there. I would of thought though that making the
embedded device a much more tricky task than programming up a serial
bridge ;-)
